Background
The Shire has commenced planning for the Byford Skate Park – Stage 2 project.
Stage 2 is proposed to include an extension to the skating surface, new skateable elements, seating, lighting and improvements to the Byford Skate Park precinct.
The project is being funded by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
More information about the project is available under the FAQs section of this webpage.
Latest update: Final Concept Plan
A final concept plan for the Byford Skate Park - Stage 2 upgrades was completed in September 2023.
The plan incorporates the feedback received throughout the earlier community engagement stages, meaning the young people who use the skate park most have contributed greatly to the facility's future.
Key factors incorporated in the final plan includes:
Multiple elements situated in succession for a longer ride
Sections of the facility to cater for both beginners and experienced riders
Provision of shade structure for viewing and seating areas
A space for community artwork
Drinking fountain, overhead lights and CCTV cameras
Parkour high bars and walls
The full final concept plan will be made available on this webpage in the coming weeks.
