Background

Work is now starting on upgrades to the Byford Skate Park.

Stage 2 is proposed to include an extension to the skating surface, new skateable elements, seating, lighting and improvements to the Byford Skate Park precinct.

The project is being funded with $800,000 from the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

Final Concept Plan

The final concept plan for the Byford Skate Park - Stage 2 upgrades incorporates the feedback received throughout the earlier community engagement stages.

Key factors incorporated in the final plan includes:

  • Multiple elements situated in succession for a longer ride
  • Sections of the facility to cater for both beginners and experienced riders
  • Provision of shade structure for viewing and seating areas
  • A space for community artwork
  • Drinking fountain, overhead lights and CCTV cameras
  • Parkour high bars and walls
