The Shire’s green spaces are important to the SJ community. When we spoke to residents about their priorities for the Shire’s Council Plan, green spaces were high on the list.

The Shire has developed a maintenance schedule for our green spaces, which determines what green spaces get what type of attention. For example, a sports oval would usually be given more care, such as weekly mowing, than a verge which may be mowed twice a year.

Now we need to hear from you - our SJ residents - to make sure we're getting it right.

Through the green spaces community conversation, we will inform the SJ community about what is involved in maintaining the Shire's green spaces, and consult the SJ community about how they are cared for.

Share your thoughts here. We will listen to what you have to say, and the results will be used to understand if our service levels are meeting community expectations.

How do I have my say?

  • We'll also be 'popping up' at various locations in the Shire from 14 March to mid-April, with giveaways and hard copy surveys available! Check out the list of dates on the right.

How can I find out more?

You can read the FAQs on this project page. If you still have more questions, contact details are on the right side of this page.

Hard copies of this survey are available on request.

  • CLOSED: This survey has concluded.

Did you know that the Shire of SJ has more than 954ha of reserves and public open space, all of which requires maintenance?

And that’s not limited to Shire-managed active parks and ovals – it also includes our local neighbourhood parks and playground areas, skate parks, verges, bridle trails, bushland and wetland.

Now we’re asking for your opinions on how well maintained these areas are.

Take the survey, and tell us about the Shire green spaces you love – and where we can improve their care.
