Expansion of SJ Recreation Centre and Briggs Park Master Plan

About the project:
The Serpentine Jarrahdale Recreation Centre is in the planning stages of an expansion project, which will include the addition of two new basketball courts and related facilities to accommodate our flourishing and engaged community.
Furthermore, we're actively developing a new Master Plan for the recreation precinct, aiming to optimise space usage and enjoyment for our community members.
Residents are welcome to reach out to the Project Team with any inquiries or concerns. Your feedback is essential as we work together to enhance our community spaces.
The Shire is gathering insights from our clubs and user groups at Briggs Park and the SJ Recreation Centre throughout April and May 2024.
Community input is invaluable as we shape the future of these facilities to meet your evolving needs. We're also collaborating with sporting bodies and associations to anticipate future growth requirements in each area.

Briggs Master Plan - New Pavilion
It’s maybe more audacious than what is already planned, but I feel a new master plan for Briggs Park should start with a constructing a new pavilion in between upper and lower Briggs, and include shifting the BMX track from between the two ovals to the eastern side of Briggs Upper. This would make both sides more useable for all sporting clubs and could potentially involve the integration of an upstairs bar facility that all clubs could partake in, much like Melville Reserve where Hilton/Bicton cricket club play or Hatfield Park where Forrestfield Cricket Club plays. This would give the opportunity to collaborate with all local stakeholder sports clubs to see what kind of facilities work best for all, and give greater longevity to the facility.

Repair or Upgrade the Change Rooms
The Sports Change Rooms next to the Briggs Park Pavilion is in desperate need of repairs. For example, the ceilings on the verandah have massive holes in them that have gotten bigger over the years. The Byford Carols group uses the raised verandah outside the change rooms as it's stage for it's annual Byford Carols event.

How about having a wellness centre like Armadale aquarium centre have. We live in Byford and we have to support the Armadale community cent.
The aquarium centre should have pools for children and adults, indoor and outdoors. A wellness centre should have spar, sauna and steam room. Tennis courts, soccer field so a soccer club can be formed as our people join anther community soccer clubs. Hockey field and athletics field.

Multi level seating Pavillion
How about a proper pavilion with multi level seating like the Frye park pavillion in kelmscott. We need a proper sporting complex in the sj shire that can hold events. The city of armadale have many new flash buildings and we seem to be so far behind in the sj shire. Time to catch up in this growing shire with young family's.
