The Economic Participation Project is a partnership between People With Disabilities WA (PWdWA), Advocacy WA (AWA) and Youth Disability Network (YDAN).
Its goal is to develop the soft skills of young people with disabilities and provide them with the self-assurance to build links with their industry of choice.
In the process, businesses will augment their capacity and confidence in engaging and employing young people with disabilities.

Organisations will gain improvements in:
- Customer service and client accessibility. Businesses will become more welcoming to the 1 in 5 Australians with disabilities, who may be customers, stakeholders or referrals.

Carers Australia invite you to take the 2022 National Carer Survey!
This survey is conducted every two years and is for people caring for a family member or friend who has a disability, mental illness, drug or alcohol dependency, chronic condition, dementia, terminal or serious illness, or who needs care due to ageing.

Is There a Better Way (ITaBW) have another round of their online program for FAMILIES and their Support Workers scheduled to commence on the 13th June 2022.
This 12-week program is just one way you can join them to explore and add to your understanding of why people experience stress or dysregulation which can lead to them showing us that they need support. Some of these ways can at times be of a concern or challenge our thinking about how to support them well. This program helps in understanding people's needs and how to support them and yourself to lead the best life possible.
What does the program look like?
- 12 weeks of self-paced and guided learning in an online format
- Access to 6 chapters of information equivalent to around 11 hours of learning for 12 months
- 4 group zoom sessions where we can personally connect and explore your individual needs
- Program booklet
- Access to other resources and tools you can use in your planning and support in an ongoing way
The cost of the program is $595 for a family or professional and $50 per support worker who attends with a family member.
This program is aimed at family members, and as such, they have priority for enrolments. The program may be funded through your NDIS plan, but if not, and access is prohibitive because of cost, we encourage you to contact ITaBW to discuss options.
Courses are capped at smaller groups of participants so they can connect on a more personal level with participants in coaching sessions. The next program will be starting soon, so get in quick to register your interest! But don’t worry, the program is run across the year. If you miss out this time around, they will let you know when the next one will start following your expression of interest. Once you've registered your interest, you will be contacted with some more details about the course and the link to enrol.

The Department of Communities (Communities) is seeking the views of Western Australians on its Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2022-2027.
Your feedback will help Communities to finalise the plan, which undertook previous consultation with the community and agency staff.
Communities DAIP 2022-2027 is strongly aligned to the principles of A Western Australia for Everyone: State Disability Strategy 2020-2030, that aims to work towards a fully inclusive and accessible community.
This five-year DAIP will guide Communities to improve practice and policy focused on people with disability. It will also outline the actions, timeframes and responsibilities to be able to achieve set goals.
A final draft of the DAIP 2022-2027 is located on their website in PDF, Word and Easy Read formats, and is open for feedback.
How to provide feedback
Comment is accepted in the following ways:
Virtual meetings (video chats) are also available. This is by appointment only. Please email DAIPfeedback@communities.wa.gov.au to arrange.
All submissions are due by 11pm Sunday, 8 May 2022.
Feedback can be emailed to DAIPfeedback@communities.wa.gov.au, or sent in by post:
Department of Communities – Office of Disability (DAIP feedback)
Locked Bag 5000

What they want to know
They’re interested in your feedback about the strategies included in this draft DAIP.
You can give them your feedback about the DAIP overall. Or you may wish to give feedback on the strategies in each of the pillars, or just some of the pillars. Whatever you prefer.
Who they want to hear from
Communities wants to hear from all Western Australians who would like to contribute.
They would particularly value feedback from:
- people with lived experience, including people with disability or family members, carers or guardians of people with disability
- advocacy or representative groups
- other interested individuals, representatives or organisations.
Confidentiality
Feedback received through submissions, letters and emails may be made publicly available online (via WA.gov.au) or may be quoted in reports and publications produced by Communities.
If you prefer your name to remain confidential, please tell them that in your feedback.
