Why is the Shire updating the State of the Environment Report?
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is the fastest growing local government in Western Australia. To enable the Shire to adapt to the expected growth, it is updating its State of the Environment Report. The first edition was published in 2019, and in the context of rapid change it requires an update.
Why is the State of the Environment Report important?
A State of the Environment Report is an analysis of the trends in the environment of a particular place. State of the Environment Reports are designed to communicate credible, timely and accessible information about the condition of the environment to decision makers and the community.
The community vision developed by the Shire highlights the importance of protecting the environment in the context of expected growth. Information about the condition of the environment is essential for its protection.
How will my feedback be used?
Community feedback will be used to update the draft State of the Environment Report to reflect community values. All feedback will be anonymous.
Who will make a final decision on the State of the Environment Report?
Following community feedback, the updated State of the Environment Report will be presented to Council for adoption.
