What is the purpose of the Transport Depot and Single house?

    The Transport Depot would facilitate a business carrying out underground cabling services and civil contracting works to various infrastructure projects.

    The business operator would reside on site in the proposed single house as well as continuing the existing use of the land for grazing and hay production.

    How big will the development be?

    The proposal would occupy approximately 1.5ha of the 39.6ha site.

    The transport depot would be contained within a shed and associated area of hardstand. The storage of commercial vehicles includes:

    • 3x 6-wheel tippers;
    • 1x 6-wheel flatbed Hiab;
    • 3x 6-tonne beavertail flatbed; and
    • Various machinery.

    The storage would occur in the area depicted on the site plan (which can be seen in the "Documents" section of this web page) and a loading bay is proposed to allow for employees to load machinery prior to leaving the site. An office and amenities building would also be provided.

    How many people will be employed on site?

    The Transport Depot would employ between 5 – 8 employees who would generally only visit the site to collect materials or machinery as required.

    The number of staff on site at any time would generally not exceed four.

    Trucks would often be parked on the work site or the private residence of the employer. Maintenance of trucks is proposed to be carried out offsite.

    What would the hours of operation be?

    The proposed hours of operation are Monday to Friday between 6am and 6pm.

    What is the zoning of the subject site?

    The subject site is zoned ‘Rural’ both under the Shire’s Town Planning Scheme No.2 the Draft Local Planning Scheme No.3.

    What is the land use of the proposal?

    The proposal falls within the definition of a ‘Transport Depot’ under the Shire’s Town Planning Scheme No.2. A ‘Transport Depot’ is a discretionary land use in the ‘Rural’ zone meaning that Council may permit the use at its discretion.

    How will my feedback be used?

    Any feedback or comments on the proposed development will be considered as part of the assessment.

    Who will make the final decision on this application?

    The determination of applications for development approval must align with the Shire’s Register of Delegations and Authorisations as endorsed by Council. Determination of the application would be in accordance with delegated authority 12.1.1. The Register is available on the Shire’s website.
