FAQs
What is a Precinct Structure Plan?
A Precinct Structure Plan is a planning document that acts as a blueprint for how a particular area will be developed. It shows where things like housing, shops, roads, parks and community facilities could go in the future and provides development guidance for the built-form and public realm. For the Mundijong Area F1 Precinct (the Mundijong town centre area), the Precinct Structure Plan is needed so that future subdivision and development can occur in a coordinated way. It ensures that as Mundijong grows, it grows in an orderly fashion with the right infrastructure and services in place.
Why is the Shire engaging on this project?
Community input is important in planning the future of our town. The Shire is required by law to advertise the draft plan for public comment. More importantly, we want to hear from residents, landowners, local businesses, and community groups about what they support or what concerns they have. This Precinct Structure Plan will shape Mundijong’s future – we need your insights to make sure it reflects community needs and values.
How will my feedback be used?
All formal submissions and comments received during the consultation period will be reviewed by the Shire’s Strategic Planning team. Your feedback will be captured within a Schedule of Submissions, which will be presented to the Council and made public on this project page. The Shire will consider all feedback and may recommend changes to the plan where appropriate. Your input can directly influence the final Mundijong Area F1 Precinct Structure Plan.
Who will make the final decision on this plan?
After the consultation, the Shire’s Council will review the draft plan together with all community and stakeholder submissions. Council will then decide whether to endorse the Precinct Structure Plan (with or without modifications) and will forward its recommendation to the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). The WAPC is the State planning authority that will make the final decision on whether to approve the Precinct Structure Plan. The precinct structure plan cannot take effect until approved by the WAPC.
