Celebrating 60 years of community groups

As we continue to celebrate Serpentine Jarrahdale’s 60th anniversary as a Shire, today we look back on the diverse collection of community groups that make SJ the wonderful place it is.
Our Shire has come a long way over the past six decades and remains one of the fastest growing local government areas in Australia.
But of course, none of the progress made over that time would have been possible without the tireless work of our local community and sporting groups and the dedicated volunteers who run them.
Groups such as the Serpentine Jarrahdale Community Men’s Shed (which has been actively promoting men’s health in the area since they began operating 2009) and the Mundijong Arts and Crafts Group (who have been coming together through creativity for more than 30 years) have helped shape our Shire.
The team at the Jarrahdale Heritage Society also does a wonderful job showcasing the history of our local area, while SJ’s numerous resident associations help to keep our community connected.
Serpentine Jarrahdale’s local sporting clubs have also been a major part of our history. Those like the Centrals Football Club (which won the inaugural Peel Football League premiership in 1992 before going on to win again in 1999, 2000 and 2007) and the Peel Metropolitan Horse and Pony Club (now in its 39th year) have been connecting locals through their sporting passions for decades, and play a vital role in promoting healthy and active lifestyles in SJ.
To all of our wonderful community and sporting groups throughout the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale, we say thank you!
