The Shire has received a MODAP application for the Whitby District Centre at Lot 9021 Skyline Boulevard, Whitby. The site is located at the intersection of Skyline Boulevard and Goodwood Boulevard in the Whitby Estate. The site is shown following:

The application proposes a District Centre development which contains the following components:

  • Two mainline supermarket sites.
  • Mixed commercial tenancies including: ‘Shop’, ‘Office’, ‘Restaurant/Cafe’, ‘Fast Food Outlet’.
  • A ‘Child Care Premises’.
  • A ‘Medical Centre’.
  • ‘Recreation – Private’ tenancies (gymnasium and swim school).
  • A ‘Community Purpose’ facility (community workshop and public courts).
  • A pedestrian focused street and associated extension of Skyline Boulevard.
  • Extension of Goodwood Boulevard.
  • Public Open Space creation to the east of Skyline Boulevard.
  • Parking facilities (including carparking areas, roadside bays, loading areas for tenancies and click and collect bays).
  • Tenancy, directional and pylon signage.

The intention of the developer is to construct the development in two stages. The first stage includes the development towards Skyline Boulevard as shown below:

The application will be advertised for public comment and circulated to all relevant state government agencies. Given the application has been lodged as a MODAP Application, the Metro Outer Panel will replace the Shire as the decision maker, and it is likely a Responsible Authority Report will be presented at a future MODAP meeting.
