Background

The Shire has received a development application for alterations and additions to a Child Care Centre at Lot 56, 58 Lefroy Street, Serpentine.

The proposal seeks approval for an additional building to replace an existing transportable which would consist of 2 x 75m2 classrooms and require the removal of one mature tree.

A retaining wall is also proposed to increase the outdoor play area and a water tank.

The existing crossover from Lefroy Street would be closed with access into the site to be taken from Tonkin Street and access from the site to be taken from the laneway.

The car parking bays would also be increased.

The Child Minding Centre would provide care for up to 56 children with a maximum of 10 staff at any one time.

The hours of operation would be from 6.30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
