The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale is inviting community feedback on Draft Local Planning Policy 1.8 – Non-Residential Car Parking Rates and Cash-in-Lieu for Parking.

The revised objectives of the policy are:

  • Provide developers with a rate of parking for all land uses which have no defined rate within the Local Planning Scheme No.3 (LPS3);
  • Provide a car parking rate for non-residential land uses in activity centres, industrial and service commercial zones;
  • Allow methods of variations to prescribed rates by calculating car parking rates as defined by other specialised documentation (car parking studies, traffic impact statements and assessments);
  • Provide guidance for the application of the cash-in-lieu car parking provisions under Schedule 4 of LPS3;
  • Provide for the equitable charging of cash-in-lieu contributions for on-site car parking spaces not provided for as part of developments; and
  • Provide a formula where the cash-in-lieu provisions for car parking have been provided for in any planning application.

The Local Planning Policy is available for viewing on the Shire’s website (sjshire.wa.gov.au) or at the Shire’s administration building at 6 Paterson Street, Mundijong between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday – Friday.
