Draft Environmental Offsets Strategy

The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has prepared this Draft Environmental Offsets Strategy to guide how environmental impacts from future Shire projects are managed. The Strategy aims to protect local environmental values by applying the mitigation hierarchy and Biodiversity Sensitive Urban Design principles. These approaches prioritise avoiding and minimising environmental impacts wherever possible, with environmental offsets considered only as a last resort.

The Strategy examines some of the Shire’s major projects planned over the next ten years and identifies where offsets may be required, along with possible opportunities to deliver them. Through this engagement, we want to share information about how environmental offsets work, what the Shire is planning, and the challenges and opportunities involved. We’re inviting community feedback to make sure local concerns are considered and to help shape the final Implementation Plan.

We invite you to submit your feedback on this Strategy before 5pm on 31 August 2026 to ensure your views are considered and help shape the final Environmental Offsets Strategy and Implementation Plan.
