Byford Skate Park upgrades hit milestone with final concept plans completed

Upgrades to Byford Skate Park have reached an exciting milestone with the final concept plans for Stage 2 works now complete.

The final plan was completed following two rounds of community engagement which saw Byford’s keen young skaters, BMX riders and scooter stars providing their feedback on the upgrades.

Their vision has now shaped the future of the facility, with the final plans including several of the popular ideas raised such as a spine, rails, bank and a box jump.

Other key factors in the concept plan include:

  • Multiple elements situated in succession for a longer ride
  • Sections of the facility to cater for both beginners and experienced riders
  • Provision of shade structure for viewing and seating areas
  • A space for future artwork
  • Drinking fountain, overhead lights and CCTV cameras
  • Parkour high bars and walls

Construction of the upgrades is scheduled to begin by mid-November 2023.

These upgrades will help turn the Briggs Park precinct into a vibrant community hub offering a place for recreation, creativity and social engagement for our Shire’s young people.

The project is being funded by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
