Turning 16 and Transition to Adulthood

This workshop will cover questions that are frequently asked by families about the transition from childhood to adulthood, particularly at ages 16 and 18 with developmental disability.

We will discuss:

  • Carer payments/allowance 16+years, evidence of disability
  • Health Care Card entitlements, application and eligibility
  • Disability Support Pension application for 16 year olds
  • Talking to Centrelink, Medicare and NDIS as your child’s nominee
  • Medicare privacy after a child turns 14
  • Transitioning out of school and the NDIS

  • DDWA Support Coordination Manager, Anne Livingston
